A PROJECT aimed at securing employment for Sunraysia’s indigenous people will continue for at least two more years.
Sunraysia Regional Consulting – formerly the Sunraysia Area Consultative Committee – yesterday announced it had secured $1.6 million in Federal Government funding to continue its indigenous employment program.
Chairman Don Carrazza said the program wanted to placed 100 indigenous workers in jobs during that time.
Since its inception six years ago, the program has placed 320 indigenous people into mainstream full-time employment throughout Sunraysia and surrounding areas.
Mr Carrazza said he was pleased the majority of these employees had also undertaken traineeships with employers and continued on in their employment after government assistance had ceased.
