The Qantas subsidiary this week launched its “Christmas Seat Sale” with limited tickets available until November 15.

However, the $74 special, for travel between December 19 and January 31, has been upstaged with Virgin Airlines offering one-way travel to the state capital from $55.

The Virgin sale applies to travel between December 19 and January 30 with sales closing at midnight tomorrow.

The best Regional Express (Rex) Airlines one way fare between Mildura and Melbourne remains at $99 and applies to travel between yesterday and January 30.

The three airlines went head to head last year stripping prices soon after the Virgin Airlines’ launch of the new Mildura/Melbourne service.

Two hundred $2 one way launch tickets were snapped up within minutes of becoming available, while thousands of other $59 fares with the airline were also in huge demand.
