Big crowds at races

WHILE most people were anxiously waiting to see if their fancy passed the post first, one man was more tense than most at the Mildura racecourse yesterday.

Mildura man Paris Stephens nervously stood before girlfriend Paige Vilder to pop the big question after the first race at Sandilong Park, which was answered by a long kiss.

With strong crowd numbers at yesterday’s race meetings in Mildura and Wentworth, an estimated 4000 race-goers enjoyed the cooler conditions as two Mildura locals made a commitment for their life together.

Meeting at O’Malley’s pub five years ago the pair formed a lasting friendship that later blossomed.

“What doesn’t make her the one, look at her,” Mr Stephens said.
