Cliffs gave Merbein fame across the world

18 Aug, 2009 05:00 AM
SUNRAYSIA residents will get a chance to go on a walk with a spectacular view today as a part of Merbein’s centenary celebrations.

Bert Curtis will lead the historic walk, which will be focused on the Merbein cliffs.

“This is where the region’s history comes together,” Mr Curtis said.

“It’s the most scenic spot in Sunraysia and apparently it is the highest spot as well.

“In the cliffs you can see 200 million years of strata and then white man’s influence as well.”

Mr Curtis grew up in Sunraysia, living here for 20 years before he moved away, travelling all over the country in a variety of jobs before retiring back to the district.
