THE Victorian Government is increasingly unlikely to throw a financial lifeline to embattled Solar Systems Pty Ltd’s proposed $420 million Mildura solar power station.
Despite calls from the Liberal and National parties to keep the Mildura project alive, the government all but ruled that out yesterday.
Solar Systems went into administration on Monday with a new buyer being sought.
Opposition spokesman on environment and climate change, David Davis, yesterday said the government should help Solar Systems reach a “milestone” to trigger more government funding.
The Federal Government had committed $75 million to the project and the state $50 million but only $500,000 of the state’s money has been spent.
