The project, which has been the subject of discussions since 2003, will take about 12 months to complete.

A Melbourne construction contractor has begun advertising for sub-contractors and suppliers for the 10,000sq m building adjacent to the Mildura Centro complex.

In April this year, council agreed to increase the floor size of the complex by 1278sq m to 10,625sq m, decreasing the width of the building and increasing its depth.

The application said that this was the result of further detailed design being undertaken and discussions with potential tenants of the facility.

Council also approved a reduction in the number of car parking spaces required for the facility.
