Making a splash

RUNNING fountains will complement Mildura’s greener scenery as life is breathed back into gardens next week with easing water restrictions.

Council workers yesterday assessed the city’s fountains before they are filled, and residents are expected to start reseeding and fertilising their lawns from Monday when restrictions drop to Stage 1.

Lincoln Dalla Santa, Bunnings Warehouse manager, said he anticipated an increase in sales as people tried to restore some colour to their gardens.

“Obviously we expect more sales along the lines of sprinklers and hoses,” Mr Dalla Santa said.

“We do sell a few water features but we’ll wait and see about those.

“There’ll be an increase in lawn seeding, and obviously associated garden products like lawn fertilisers, which will in turn increase sales in mowers, lawn edgers and brush cutters.”
