No job snobs in Sunraysia

28 Jul, 2009 05:00 AM
JOB snobs are not likely to make their home in Sunraysia, according to employment agencies.

While Kevin Rudd has warned young job seekers they need to toughen-up and get real, Sunraysia’s Generation Y employees are putting in the hard yards and working their way to the top.

David Stevenson, Sunraysia Murray Group Training managing director, said job seekers in Sunraysia seemed to be more realistic than their city cousins.

“Everybody we’re seeing is quite eager,” he said.

“I’m not sure the people are particularly choosy in our region.

“You’re not going to be having a job as a brain surgeon in Sunraysia.

“If you want that sort of work you have to relocate.”

Australia’s rate of youth unemployment is more than double the general jobless rate of 5.8 per cent, which the Federal Government expects will peak at 8.5 per cent.
