HE played the music which shaped a generation of children and now Peter Combe is back to do it again.

The veteran performer will be playing two gigs – a matinee performance for children and then a night performance for the older crowd – at The Sandbar tomorrow and said he couldn’t wait.

“It’s the first time I’ve taken my own band on the road,” he said.

“I’ve done lots of band shows with other bands in Melbourne and Sydney.”

Combe’s songs Spaghetti Bolognaise, Newspaper Mama, Wash Your Face in Orange Juice and Juicy Juicy Green Grass have earned him three ARIAS, seven gold and two platinum albums as well as the devotion of his fans – kids and adults alike.

He said he was amazed just to see where his career had led him – he now regularly plays to packed out venues of 20-year-olds.

“It’s quite unique, I’ve continued to be amazed at what’s happening with my career at the moment,” he said.

“I’m still doing children’s shows with children, but what’s interesting is the parents of the kids are the ones that grew up with the old songs.
