TOMORROW’S free community event celebrating the launch of Mildura’s new riverfront venue has been postponed – another victim of the November heatwave.
A council meeting was held yesterday afternoon where a decision was made to postpone the much anticipated launch and naming of the $1.6 million soundshell.
Tomorrow’s 41 degree heat will take its toll on the sporting community as well, as decisions are made to cancel or postpone events including athletics, archery, tennis, softball, bowls and golf.
Temperatures are expected to soar to 41 degrees tomorrow and on Sunday, capping off one of the region’s hottest November weeks on record.
Despite a cool change on Tuesday there is still no end in sight for the heatwave, as temperatures return to above 40 degrees by the end of next week.
