Almond and olive grove giant Timbercorp, which went into receivership last week, has remained tight-lipped about a possible takeover, which could avoid job losses for up to 400 workers.
Owner of Robinvale’s Work n’ Wear, John Tate, said he was not worried about potential revenue loss and thought the problem was a “wash out”.
“I don’t think the townwill go to the pack. I can’t see anybody letting the farms and trees just die,” he said.
Mr Tate said that while the Timbercorp collapse was a point of discussion around town, he said the diversity in the region’s produce would protect against the impact of any local job losses.
