Solar experts visit SuniTAFE

11 Nov, 2009 04:00 AM
SUNRAYSIA Institute of TAFE will host a visit from Robert Mierisch, chief engineer of The Solar Storage Company on November 18.

The visit is the result of a recent visit to the US by a delegation led by the Mildura Development Corporation and Mildura Rural City Council.

The purpose of the visit was to promote the Mildura region as the best location in Victoria for large scale solar power generation and to gain an understanding of the value adding industries that can follow from a commitment to renewable energy.

At one of the visits near Silicon Valley on San Jose, the group heard from two of the directors of The Solar Storage Company – a start-up business based in the US.

The company has three directors, all of whom are Australian, including Robert Mierisch.

Win Scott, CEO of Sunraysia Institute of TAFE said: “I was really interested in what the Solar Storage Company had to say because they were discussing technology that was aimed at farmers who are interested in solar production and storage and that is particularly relevant for our region.”
