FIRE crews remained on alert yesterday after a number of lightning strikes were reported from Wednesday’s thunderstorms.
Department of Sustainability and Environment Land and Fire district manager Russell Manning said smoke was reported on Wednesday night, but a downpour in the area seems to have quelled any fires.
“We’ve been a bit lucky, we haven’t detected a fire,” Mr Manning said.
The DSE recorded a number of strikes through its lightning tracker over Northern Wyperfeld and the Murray Sunset National Park around 5pm on Wednesday.
