MILDURA Base Hospital’s patient waiting list is shorter than the state average, a new report shows.
But there is concern from community leaders that continuous growth will exhaust the facilities of the hospital.
According to the State Government’s 2008/09 Your Hospitals report, Mildura Base Hospital performed strongly, with key performances:
MORE than 8900 patients admitted in the six months to the end of June – 117 more than the previous year;
A HUNDRED per cent of Category 1 emergency patients treated immediately on arrival at the hospital ED in 2008/09;
NINETY-five per cent Category 2 patients treated within 10 minutes of arrival at the ED in 2008/09 – the same as the previous year, and exceeding the national benchmark of 80 per cent;
NINETY-two per cent of Category 3 patients treated within 30 minutes of arrival at the ED in 2008/09 – exceeding the national benchmark of treating 75 per cent of patients in that time; and
EIGHTY-four per cent of emergency patients admitted to hospital were transferred to a bed within eight hours of arrival in 2008/09 – exceeding the benchmark target of 80 per cent, and improving by 24 per cent on the previous year.
