IT was the beginning of the end yesterday for many Year 12 students sitting the first of their final exams.

After weeks of studying and revising, Victorian Certificate of Education students are able to relax a little after completing the three- hour written English exam.

Performance assessments began two weeks ago but the English test was the first written exam taken by the majority of students.

Steven Sellens was one of about 300 students at Mildura Senior College who finished their English studies yesterday.

Steven, 18, said the exam had been interesting but preparation had paid off.

“Revision classes were good for preparation but it was definitely interesting and a lot to write,” he said.

“I did about eight or nine pages and I feel pretty confident with it.

“You just give it your best shot.

“It’s probably the biggest exam for me because I want to study primary teaching at La Trobe so I needed at least a 25 in English to be accepted.”
