Treat for audience

08 Jun, 2009 05:00 AM
MILDURA Arts Centre audiences received a treat at Mildura Eisteddfod at the weekend.

More than 100 people escaped the chilly, winter weather and nestled together in the auditorium to hear local school students hit the high notes during vocal sections.

A self-confessed exhausted adjudicator, Susan Breen Clarke, said judging section 419 proved tough as standards were high.

Ms Breen Clarke split second place between two performers – Grace Green and Emilie Dyson-Berry – while Hannah Bryans’ performance earned her first place.

“I thought it was quite outstanding for this age group,” Ms Breen Clarke said.

Honourable mentions were awarded to Johannah Gray, Alenna Diaz-Jones, Jessica Vartuli, Biondo Romeo, Samantha Smith, Adele Carrazza, Carla Piscitelli, Monique Mezzatesta, Annie Stone and Kasey Humphrey.
