MILDURA Rural City Council says it will press ahead with a planned trip to the US to explore solar development potential despite the collapse of the region’s solar power station proponent Solar Systems.
Mildura Mayor Glenn Milne and environment portfolio councillor Nick Cavallo will join Mildura Development Corporation chairman Dane Huxley and chief executive officer Anne Mansell on the two-week visit next month.
Council will spend $12,000 to send the councillors on the fact-finding mission, less than the initial estimate of $8580 per representative.
The delegates will attend the Solar Power International Conference in Anaheim, California, from October 27 to 29 and visit California, Arizona and Nevada as part of the delegation from October 17 to 31.
