What a start

MILDURA’S reputation as a wonderful Easter destination was further enhanced yesterday in what was described as the perfect start to the long-weekend.

Clear skies and temperatures in the high 20s made for a brilliant start to four days of Easter activity mayhem with some of the biggest crowds in recent memory turning out to yesterday’s Show and Shine in the City Heart.

With warmer autumn weather than in any other part of the state and a plethora of motor sport and community activities, the city’s ability to draw visitors from areas further south in Victoria remains stronger than ever.

While scattered showers fell further to the south east of the state, Sunraysia remained relatively cloud-free yesterday and visitors basked in the conditions.

With accommodation houses booked out weeks, if not months, in advance, the only questioned remained was about the weather and the sun gods did not let the region down.

The Central Business District was abuzz with a variety of motoring vehicles on display from the big rigs that are normally encouraged away from the City Heart to pee wee motorcycles, stretching from along Langtree Avenue and in Eighth Street to Orange Avenue.

Classic vehicles including a pristine 1955 Chev convertible to a 1961 black Cadillac with the registration “Elvis-1” lined Langtree Avenue between Seventh and Eighth streets, including some of those represented in this weekend’s Street Stock and drag racing events.
