 An ordinary life for Jorrin

An ordinary life for Jorrin

15 Aug, 2009 05:00 AM
A CAN of soft drink and a morning sleep-in are no longer luxuries for a young diabetes sufferer thanks to new life-saving technology.

Sunnycliffs Primary School Year 5 student Jorrin Clutterbuck, 10, can now lead a more ordinary life, with a new insulin pump replacing his three daily injections.

The young diabetes sufferer will be the first in Mildura to receive an insulin pump initiation next month.

The Sunraysia Juvenile Diabetes Support Group secretary Jo Clutterbuck said her son would now have more freedom and normalcy in his life.

“Depending on where he injects, it affects insulin absorption, but with the pump if he wants to sleep-in in the morning he can,” Mrs Clutterbuck said.
