ANGLERS will be flocking to the Murray for the chance to catch a whopper and share in more than $1500 in cash and prizes as the Mallee Catchment Management Authority holds its annual Catch A Carp Day tomorrow.
More than 500 anglers are expected to enter the event and it is hoped that thousands of European Carp can be pulled from the Murray on the day.
The event is aimed at improving the health of the Murray River by removing as many carp as possible and as an added incentive, everyone who catches a carp on the day will automatically go into the draw to win a $500 cash prize.
Mallee CMA chair Joan Burns has urged people to get involved.
“Catch a Carp Day is the most popular event staged by the Mallee CMA and it’s really pleasing to see people get actively involved in improving our river,” she said.
