SHARP Airlines has signalled its commitment to growing Mildura with the release of its new Mildura-Adelaide timetable and tourism partnership initiative.
The airline yesterday launched a new Sunday evening service between the two cities to further encourage weekend stays.
The expanded service comes on the first anniversary of Sharp Airlines’ beginning connections between Mildura and Adelaide following the collapse of O’Connor Airlines in late 2007.
Sharp currently has twice-daily flights between Mildura and Adelaide each Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and will now add a Sunday service departing Adelaide at 6.25pm and a return flight leaving Mildura at 7.10pm.
Sharp Airlines’ South Australian manager Dallas Hay, who travelled to Mildura for the launch yesterday, said it was hoped the Sunday evening timetable would encourage people to spend a weekend in either Mildura or Adelaide.
“To show our commitment to the Mildura region we would like to announce a promotional campaign targeting tourism,” Mr Hay said.
“We ultimately want to get more people travelling to Mildura,” he said.
