ANAHEIM: Mildura’s solar research delegation to the US has focused its mission on making sure Mildura receives the greatest possible economic benefits from any investment in a large-scale solar station in the region.
After a week visiting some of the world’s largest solar companies in California, Nevada and Arizona, the five-member delegation, comprising Mildura Rural City Council, Mildura Development Corporation and Sunraysia Institute of TAFE representatives, is now reassured Mildura is a leading contender for a solar power development.
“We now know what it is we need to fine-tune this investigation and get long-term benefits from solar,” development corporation chairman Dane Huxley said yesterday.
The solar mission is now on the final, but most important leg of its tour, with the opening last night of the Solar Power International Conference in Anaheim, on the outskirts of Los Angeles.
There is great interest in the many experts speaking on complex solar project subjects during the four-day conference, but the delegation is even more determined to make the most of its networking opportunities to press Mildura’s case on the many solar companies represented here.
