MARRIAGE is not always easy, but there are certain promises worth keeping, according to Margaret and Vic Duthie.
The Mildura retirees celebrated 70 years of matrimony recently.
“We just look after one another,” Mrs Duthie said.
“It wasn’t always easy, you just lived from day to day and worked to keep the pot boiling.
“But, you stuck together.
“When you said forever, it meant forever.”
After meeting as children, Mr and Mrs Duthie exchanged vows on November 8, 1939.
“We’d known each other most of our lives,” Mrs Duthie said.
“He was friends with my cousins, but I didn’t think I would ever marry him.
