THE Sunpilots will take a break from the studio and hit the road this month for their Animals In My Mind national tour.
While the tour marks the band’s third trip around the country, it will be the first time fans will get a taste of where The Sunpilots are headed musically with album number two.
“I think we’ve finally started to figure out ‘our sound’ and it’s pretty different to Living Receiver,” frontman Raj Siva-Rajah said.
“I’ve been listening to a lot of ’60s and ’70s rock opera – The Who’s Tommy and The Wall, that kind of stuff. So that probably gives you a bit of an idea.”
Siva-Rajah said creating the new album had been fantastic
“We run our own record label, we’re independent and have wanted to stay that way.
“It’s a bit of a pain in the a--e because you’ve got to be a music business person as well. In the last couple of years we’ve been more business people than muso’s.
“We’ve decided that we won’t worry about what will fit on radio and the length of stuff. It’s been really refreshing getting back into writing again.
“When you’re not doing fresh stuff, the vibe becomes less so it kind of re-energises us.”
