LEADING Bendigo trainer Glenn Douglas and his reinsman brother Daryl combined to take the honors with a winning double at the Nyah Harness Racing meeting on Tuesday night.
Their starters Our Sand Fly won the Tooleybuc Sporting Club Pace, while No Till enjoyed a drop back in class to win the Murphy’s Tarps Pace.
Our Sand Fly has been a handy pacer for Douglas since coming across from New Zealand as an un-raced four-year-old in May. He has won five races in Australia.
Our Sand Fly has a liking for racing in the north, winning three of five starts, with two Mildura wins and Tuesday’s Nyah victory.
The five-year-old pacer No Till was embroiled in a bit of controversy at the Kilmore Cup meeting a couple of weeks ago, but he was given the run of the race by Daryl Douglas to continue his winning form at Nyah.
Our Madagascar was entered in race four at Kilmore and after stewards checked the brands of the horses in the parade ring it was discovered that the horse was in fact No Till after Douglas had mistakenly presented the wrong horse into the parade ring prior to the race, which incurred him a $2000 fine.
There was no mistaken identity this time and No Till took his record to seven wins from 41 starts.
