DEMONS and Workers men’s A grade basketball teams are sitting level on points on top of the WHK A grade basketball premiership ladder each with 10 wins and two losses before this week’s games.
Irymple is eyeing off the double chance second spot, two games behind on eight wins and four losses, on the downward run toward the final series.
However, Workers still hold top spot with a slight 11 per cent lead.
Hawks are holding the fourth spot, with Wildcats and Alcheringa out of the contest.
To have any chance to grab second spot, Irymple had to overcome Demons, a win putting them one game behind the Dees.
Coach James Madigan wasn’t taking any chances and included ex-NBL roster and former Senior Heat player Glen Barlow, who was back in Mildura for a two-week holiday.
Irymple, who have been serial runners-up for the past four seasons, are taking this season very seriously and have been doing extra fitness training since Christmas to try to turn their fortunes around as captain Nigel Pavilach noted they are sick of finishing second.
