Hockey warms up

10 Feb, 2010 04:00 AM
SUNRAYSIA hockey players are wearing off the holiday rust with a mixed twilight competition.

The Wednesday night games are open to players of any skill level.

As well as the twilight competition warming up players for this year’s season, almost 40 juniors recently attended a summer skills camp.

The camp was run by Hockey Victoria coach Ken Parkin, along with local coaches, and covered all aspects of play.

Sunraysia Hockey Association junior summer program administrator Gary Caldecott said the clinic had gone well and was a great way to lead into 2010 competitions.

“Ken Parkin was really enthusiastic and kept the kids going all day,” Mr Caldecott said.

“The whole thing went pretty well, starting off with basic ball skills right through to attacking plays, strategies and positions on the field.

“It was a pretty full program looking at every aspect of the game.

“It’s a good lead in to the season coming up.
