Newcomer Terry fires up rivals

MILDURA’S newest benchrest shooter Terry Burnett showed up many more experienced competitors, winning the handicap section at the annual Renmark handicap shoot.

Burnett won the handicap section of the competition with a score of 594.13 at the event a fortnight ago.

Normally when new shooters win this event they are helped by a fairly generous handicap.

But this was not the case this year, with Burnett having one of the smallest handicaps given on the day, due to a very good lead-up to the event.

His off rifle score of 593.38 was the fourth best of the day, beating a large list of very experienced and successful competitors.

This event consists of 20 shots at each of three distances, 20m, 50m and 90m.

Cathy Burnett, Peter Carroll and Alan Collins also competed, with Collins shooting the second best score at 20m, but not doing as well at 50m and 90m, finishing 12th.
