LOCAL knowledge won the day for several Sunraysia-based competitors at the Mildura 100 ski race.

Mildura-based boat Orsm clocked an average speed of 173km/h in the Unlimited Inboard class.

Driver Ian Kilpatrick and former local George Fitos were ecstatic with the win, which was shared by Melbourne-based skier Steven Rowe and observer Eddie Bastjancic.

Damien McGlynn’s B L Marine boat won the Women’s Social class, towing skiers Lesley Toole and Stephanie Barens to an emphatic eight-minute win.

He backed it up with another success in the MOC Outboard class after he finished second behind Melbourne entry Ace Racing, which broke the class record by almost a minute.

Behind the boat this time was locals Shaun James and Jason Hartley.

In the same race, Peter Pretscherer finished fourth with local skier Adrian McGlynn also part of the team.
