Testing time in finals thrust

14 Nov, 2009 04:00 AM
THIS weekend sees a couple of vital matches in the quest for a final four spot as the Sunraysia Hearing Clinic pennant bowls reaches the half-way mark of the season.

Play is still in doubt due to the heatwave, with no play to take place today if the forecast temperature is 40 degrees or above.

At Cureton Avenue, league leaders Workers take on Irymple in what should be a close encounter.

Workers are undefeated this season and will be keen to keep that record intact, while the Swallows are looking to secure a top two spot and maintain the psychological advantage they gained over Workers last season.

Workers lead the table, but have not had things all their own way. Peter Mitchell’s rink has not had a good year and cannot afford a blowout this week.

Irymple’s Terry Wright has played himself into form and if Col Sherriff manages to get somewhere near the mark then Irymple will go very close.
