The Sting

THOUSANDS of people lined the banks of the Murray to watch Stinga take out the Mildura 100 yesterday.

Greg Houston’s Sydney-based team finished the 100km course to Wicketts sandbar and back in 32 minutes and 35 seconds, comfortably beating home Superman and BURNN who got the minor places.

For Houston it’s the third time he has won the Mildura 100 and he was thrilled with how his team had performed. “I’ve won this race twice before so three times is great. It’s a great race to win,” Houston said.

“We’ve got a great team so it was really good.”

More than 250 boats were competing in this year’s event across all classes, and thousands of spectators turned out to watch, packing the banks of the river searching for the best vantage point.

Having won the race three times, it’s no surprise that Houston loves racing in Mildura. “It’s a good race, a good track,” he said.
