Round one of SFNL under 18s action got under way at the weekend and there were some big winning margins, one tight encounter, plus some controversy.
The match of the round was at Henshilwood Oval where home side Irymple went down to Robinvale by less than a kick.
The Eagles ran out five-point winners, although the result of the game is under review by the VCFL because of an alleged unregistered player.
A decision is expected this week.
It was a close match all the way, though, with Robinvale maintaining a slight lead at every change.
In the end, poor kicking for goal cost Irymple the match.
At the end of the game they led the scoring shots, 19 to 14, but just couldn’t make them count. The final score was 9.5-59 to 7.12-54.
Josh Karagiannis was judged best on field for Robinvale, followed by Vince Fotia, while Tyler Winton and Cameron O’Brien were among the best for the Swallows.
