 Tri training guide a must

Tri training guide a must

07 Nov, 2009 04:00 AM
THE 20th anniversary Coomealla Memorial Sporting Club Triathlon kicks off the 2009-2010 triathlon season on December 13 and veteran triathlete John Fleming has written a training program for first-timers.

It includes all the details and programs to get you across the finish line and also help understand all you need to know about this three discipline sport.

The Coomealla website is at www.coomeallatriclub.com.

The website gives athletes two options and distances.

The Enticer triathlon is the entry point to racing, with a 200m swim, 10km ride and 2km run.

A plan is always important

In triathlon it is important to have a written plan in front of you rather than deciding on a day-to-day basis which discipline you are going to train in.

That’s not to say that you must stick rigidly to the stated schedule, but it is important to exercise in all the three sports of swimming, riding, running.

Most people who commit to racing their first triathlon, usually come from some sporting background and have some knowledge of the sport.
